Single-family Landscaping Code Amendment

Ogden is considering a zoning ordinance text amendment related to front and side yard landscaping requirements for single-family dwellings.  The proposed amendment would:

1. Limit the amount of turf that could be installed in front and side yards of new single-family dwellings to 35% of the landscaped yard area.
2. Require that the front yard and side yard facing a street of a single-family dwelling be landscaped such that 50% of the landscaped area is covered by living plants.
3. Allow applicants to provide a financial guarantee for installation of required street trees.

The Planning Commission held a hearing on the proposal on March 5, 2025.  The commission recommended approval of the change.  The Planning Commission's recommendation will be forwarded to the Ogden City Council at a later date.
