The Site Plan is part of the permanent permit record, and as such must be drawn or produced in such a way that anyone looking at the site plan will be able to understand exactly what work is being done.
Illegible or poorly drawn site plans WILL BE REJECTED! |
The Site Plan should include the following elements:
- Aerial photo background
- Building or house location
- Site address
- North arrow
- Work location
- Notes (describing work to be performed)
- Sidewalk, curb & gutter location (when present)
- Utility main locations
| Location Plan - If your Project is remodeling or adding on to an existing building, you must include a location plan or key plan showing how the proposed improvements relate to the existing structure(s) |
Creating The Site Plan
- Find a good aerial image. Print it either in grayscale or screened out, so that the picture looks a little light and faded (as shown in the example site plans below).
- Now that the picture is printed out, use a red fine-tip marker to draw in the details of your job.
- For a Water-related job: include the water lateral location (from house to meter or main), water main location (if applicable), the water meter, any excavations being made (dashed lines), any pavement being replaced, and all notes describing the work being done. (see example)
- For a Sewer-related job: Include the sewer lateral location (from house to main), sewer main location, any visible manholes, any excavations being made (dashed lines), any pavement being replaced, and all notes describing the work being done. (see example)
- For Pavement jobs: Outline any pavement being replaced. For driveway approaches being widened, draw the new edge of the driveway, and include all notes describing the work being done. (see example)
Address & Description: Write the address of the property with a brief description ("Water", "Sewer", "Driveway", etc.). Include a "North" arrow. The red ink on the gray picture clearly shows what work is being done:
