OGDEN — The Ogden City Council unanimously approved the appointment of Jacob Sube as the new Ogden City Police Chief on Tuesday, October 1, following an extensive selection process by Mayor Benjamin K. Nadolski.
Chief Sube, a long-time Ogden City officer with 23 years of experience in policing and leadership, expressed his commitment to public service and his readiness for the new role.
"I'm not going to let any of you down,” he told the Council. “I'm going to continue to work with all of you as we move forward. We have the same goal in mind, and that's to have a community that's safe, healthy, and a place where people want to live, work, and play."
Chief Sube's career began as a reserve police officer in 2000. From there he steadily worked his way up the ranks fulfilling duties as a sergeant, lieutenant, commander, captain, and Deputy Chief of Police.
Mayor Nadolski acknowledged Sube's contributions throughout his tenure and reiterated his confidence in the appointment.
"Jake has managed the department's budget, he's overseen disciplinary processes, he served as acting chief, he's helped with the development and implementation of our strategic plan,” he said. “We need someone who wants to build better relationships with our city and our community, and that man is Jake Sube."
The Ogden City Council looks forward to working with Chief Sube and anticipates a productive tenure.
