On Tuesday, Feb. 6, the Ogden City Council elected Council member Ken Richey as the Council Chair and Council member Marcia White as the Council Vice Chair for the 2024 calendar year.
Chair Richey is entering his third year of service on the City Council having served as Vice Chair in 2023.
“I appreciate each member of this Council. I look at you all as mentors to me,” Chair Richey said. “One of the commitments we made when we were elected last year was to maintain good, solid communication among the Council. I certainly hope to continue that.”
This will be the fifth time Vice Chair White has served in leadership on the Council, having served as Chair in 2016 and 2017 and as Vice Chair in 2015 and again in 2021.
“We have a great Council,” Vice Chair White said. “I really want to make sure I bring a good balance between us.”
After the oath of office was administered for both positions, Council Members expressed their appreciation to Council Members Angela Choberka and Ken Richey for their service in 2023 as Council Chair and Vice Chair.
Before the end of last year, the Council changed its rules and norms to shift the election of Council Chair and Vice Chair to the first part of February for scheduling purposes.
